Zipping the new tab page

Quick reference is essential to productivity in the modern age. Yet, most new tab pages (NTP) didn't do a really good job of supporting it.

Navigation depends a lot on the NTP. A horribly-designed NTP increases cognitive load and interaction costs. Today, after decades of evolving the browser, they've become easy to use and free of distraction. Still, I'm not completely satisfied. NTP are aesthetically pleasing, but other than that, why the huge amount of white space on the NTP?

A quick take on tab navigation

Switching between tabs has never been an easy task. Preview tabs on hover is a pretty good solution to this, however the preview is often small and the animation is rather slack, even sluggish. And I don't want to check the preview of every single 100+ tabs I'm opening. So alternatives and modifications are born and each has provided interesting approaches to this whole tab navigation muddle.

Let's go through some of them.

Redesigning msconfig.exe

There is nothing wrong with msconfig.exe really since all UX guidelines provided back then are followed closely and consistently. This is just an attempt of mine to make the overall design friendlier to the users, to reduce human mistakes and of course to bring the Fluent look-and-feel into this legacy program.
